Description

Sinusitis is the inflammation or infection of the sinuses, which are air-filled cavities located around the nose, cheeks, forehead, and eyes. When the sinus openings become blocked due to infection, allergies, or structural abnormalities, mucus accumulates, leading to pain, pressure, congestion, and difficulty breathing. Sinusitis may be acute (lasting less than 4 weeks), subacute, chronic (lasting more than 12 weeks), or recurrent, depending on its duration and frequency.
